Privileged, twenty year old Emma Woodhouse is the queen bee in the village of Highbury. After her successful 'match' of Miss Taylor to Mr. Weston, she imagines herself to be a matchmaker and embarks on making an eligible match for her new friend Harriet. Despite warnings from her Father and her friend Mr. Knightly, Emma carries on with her scheme with some very interesting and funny results. With the addition of Frank Churchill into the mix, Emma calls into question if she knows anything at all!

This comedy was completed in 1815 and was Jane Austen's fourth published novel. Austen herself proclaimed that Emma was a difficult person that only she adored, but hoped that Emma's good intentions and honest conversion at the end of the book would endear her.
